Acura Builds the Best Luxury Crossovers

Acura’s all-wheel drive vehicles are among the best values in the entire luxury market, and every day, more and more of our neighbors are coming to the same conclusion. In spite of their low starting prices, the 2019 Acura RDX and the 2018 Acura MDX offer features and capabilities that their competitors can’t match! Most other manufacturers can do one or two things well, but Acura’s superiority is plain to see no matter what you’re looking for in your next new vehicle! A winning combination of high-precision performance, advanced safety technology, classic interior style, leading entertainment features, and lasting value makes these models the best luxury crossovers on the market today.

2019 Acura RDX

The Acura RDX has a superior sales track, and the writers at Car and Driver are correct to note that “it offers well-equipped packages at prices where some of its European competitors begin.” Priced at $37,300 MSRP,* the Acura RDX is more affordable than the 2019 BMW X3 and the 2018 Lexus RX 350 alike —and it also retains more of its value over time.

In contrast to the BMW and the Infiniti QX50, advanced safety technologies like Adaptive Cruise Control and Collision Mitigation Braking come standard in the RDX. We’ve broken down some of the 2019 Acura RDX’s standout features below.

2019 Acura RDX EnginePowertrain Options: The Acura RDX comes standard with a Turbo Inline-4 engine and Front Wheel Drive, but each and every trim can be upgraded with Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) technology. Both the standard and the upgraded model offer 272 hp and 280 lbs.-ft. of torque, and All-Wheel Drive models only get 1 less milepergallon than baseline models.

2019 Acura RDX CameraSafety Features: The RDX’s Standard package includes a Multi-View Rear Camera with Dynamic Guidelines, AcuraWatch safety features, LED Daytime Running Lights, Automatic Headlights, and more. The Technology, A-Spec, and Advance Packages add Parking Sensors, a Blind Spot Information System, and a Rear Cross Traffic Monitor. A Surround View Camera and a Head-Up Warning are specific to the high-end Advance Package.

2019 Acura RDX MoonroofInterior Luxury: Each RDX package offers a distinctlystyled interior, but Perforated Milano Leather with Contrast Stitching has been included on all but the baseline Standard trim. Heated 12-Way Power Adjustable Front Seats come standard with the Standard and Technology Packages, and front seat ventilation has been added on the A-Spec and up. Advance models gain 16-Way Power Adjustable Front Seats and Heated Rear Outboard Seats, too. A Leather-Wrapped Steering Wheel is standard across all models.

2019 Acura RDX DashEntertainment and Connectivity: Apple CarPlay Sirius XM, SMS/MMS/Email Reading and more come standard on the baseline Standard trim, which can also act as a Mobile Hotspot. An Acura Navigation System with Real-Time Traffic has been included with the Technology Package, and the high-end Advance Package offers a 10.5-Inch Head-Up Display and a 16-Speaker premium audio system. You can control each of these using Natural Language Voice Recognition or the RDX’s True Touchpad interface.

2018 Acura MDX

Drivers with a real taste for the finer things can get more—for a whole lot less—in the 2018 Acura MDX. This model is priced at $44,200 MSRP,* and if you desire similar features on competing vehicles like the 2018 BMW X5 or the Mercedes-Benz GLE, you’ll wind up paying thousands of dollars more!

The MDX’s fuel economy, standard safety features, quiet cabin, and 70,000-mile warranty give it a clear edge in the market for full-size crossovers. Find out what else it’s offering by reading on.

2019 Acura MDX AWDPowertrain Options: The 2018 MDX comes standard with a 3.5-Liter V-6 engine with 290 hp and 267 lbs.-ft. of torque. Like the RDX, it’s available with Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive, but unlike its smaller cousin, SH-AWD models can be outfitted with Sport Hybrid technology. This combination pairs a smaller engine with an electric motor to boost fuel economy without compromising power and performance.

2019 Acura MDX CameraSafety Features: Every MDX trim includes the AcuraWatch safety suite as well as Vehicle Stability Assist, a Multi-View Rear Camera with Dynamic Guidelines, LED Daytime Running Lights, and more. As with the RDX, the MDX gains a Blind Spot Information System and a Rear Cross Traffic Monitor with its Technology, Advance, and Entertainment packages. Advance and Entertainment packages also offer Parking Sensors and a Surround View Camera System.

2019 Acura MDX SeatingInterior Luxury: Depending on which trim level and upgrades you select, you’ll receive a Leather-Trimmed Interior, a Perforated Leather-Trimmed Interior, or a Perforated Milano Leather Interior with Contrast Piping and Stitching. A 10-Way Power Driver’s Seat, a 2-Position Memory Function, and Heated Front Seats are standard in all models. Third-Row Access One-Touch Smart Slide Walk-In is standard on all models without Second-Row Captain’s Chairs, and Heated Second-Row Outboard Seats are standard on Advance and Entertainment models.

2019 Acura MDX Rear EntertainmentEntertainment and Connectivity: Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, an On-Demand Multi-Use Display 2.0, Sirius XM Satellite Radio and much more come standard across all MDX trims. Those who upgrade with the Technology Package will receive HD Radio, Song By Voice, and an Acura Navigation System with 3D view. The Entertainment Package, which can be equipped with either the Technology or Advance Packages, includes a Rear Entertainment System with a VGA Screen, Wireless Headphones, and HDMI Compatibility.
