America’s Best-Selling Three-Row Luxury SUV: The Acura MDX
The MDX debuted in the 2001 model year, and we have loved it since we first hear that Acura was developing a luxury three-row SUV. It’s one of the most popular vehicles here at Wisconsin Acura Dealers—and apparently all over the country. If you haven’t heard, the MDX is America’s best-selling three-row luxury SUV… of all time.*
Building the Best SUV
After experiencing record sales in the first half of 2014, with June sales up 68.4 percent compared to last year (at 30,664 units), Acura has sold 692,710 MDX models in the last 14 or so years, cementing the vehicle as the most popular luxury three-row SUV ever.
This may not sound like news to some of you, as the MDX has been well-loved since it first showed up, topping its class in annual sales every year since 2002. It’s this legacy, this history of popularity and performance, that has Acura predicting to break 700,000 MDX sales by the end of December 2014.
All it takes is a look at the reinvention of the third generation model with the 2014 MDX to see how Acura manages to keep giving drivers more of what they want year after year. After all, rather than just revamp the MDX, they restarted the design from the ground up, aiming for their original goals and vastly improving the MDX in the process.
“Luxury car buyers have spoken, and we really want to thank our Acura customers for making the MDX the clear winner among three-row luxury SUVs,” said Mike Accavitti, senior vice president and general manager of Acura Division. “MDX is the clear benchmark in its class, consistently delivering the best combination of features, function and performance that luxury buyers are after.”
We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.
