2020 Acura NSX Horsepower and Torque 

The NSX was designed to break new ground in the supercar segment, so it was the first such model to be powered by a bespoke Sport Hybrid Super Handling All-Wheel Drive power unit. Engine power combines with direct electric torque to deliver next-generation acceleration, steering, and braking for an exquisitely precise and responsive ride. All told, the Sports Hybrid Power Unit puts up to 573 hp and 476 lb-ft of torque under your command.

 

Powertrain features include:

  • 3.5L DOHC Twin-Turbo V6: Delivering up to 500 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque, the 75-degree longitudinally mounted gas engine features dry sump lubrication and is the product of countless hours of precision engineering.
  • 9-Speed Dual-Clutch Transmission with Paddle Shifters: The innovative dual-clutch transmission holds the next gear up or down to ensure seamless power delivery. 9th is ideal for cruising while a close ratio 7-speed gearbox takes care of everything in between.
  • Power Drive Unit (PDU): Works to manage battery recharge and balance out hybrid motor power.
  • Twin Motor Unit: Uses independent left and right motors at the front wheels to deliver instant torque for exceptional acceleration whether you’re in the city or on the highway.
  • Intelligent Power Unit (IPU): The power unit’s primary battery sits low and centered behind the seats to direct energy to front and rear motors.
  • Direct Drive Electric Motor: Set between the V6 and transmission, the Direct Drive Electric Motor ensures immediate torque and acceleration. It also offers Launch Mode to take .5 seconds off acceleration.

    The Acura NSX brought together engineers from around the world to collaborate on the only supercar current built in America. They worked over everything from the chassis itself to minute internal components to deliver supreme rigidity for an exceptional ride.

     

    At the heart of the vehicle is an ultra-rigid multi-material space frame that perfectly optimizes performance, and further design features include a low center of gravity for flawless stability and a rigid, all-aluminum subframe to control pitch and roll as you head through corners.

    Thousands of hours of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and wind tunnel testing fine-tuned aerodynamics create:

    • Sharp body lines that let you cut through the air with minimal resistance.
    • Three times more downforce at the rear than at the front for excellent balance.
