2016 Acura TLXLooking for a high-end car that is replete with cutting-edge amenities? The 2016 Acura TLX technology features provide the connectivity and convenience drivers want—and at a price they’ll love.

Keep reading as we explore the tech offerings found onboard the TLX. We’ll also discuss how the TLX compares with leading rivals like the 2017 Audi A4 and the 2016 Lexus ES 350.

Price Points

In terms of cost, the Acura TLX is priced remarkably lower than the Audi A4 and the Lexus ES 350.

The base-model TLX is $31,695 MSRP,* while the A4 weighs in at $37,300 MSRP and the ES 350 is priced from $38,100 MSRP.

For that lower price, the TLX offers a variety of technology amenities that are not found in the A4 or the ES 350 base trims, or that are only offered as optional upgrades for a higher cost.

Among the tech features offered standard in the TLX base model but not in the A4 or ES 350 base trims, the TLX provides standard two-driver memory settings for locks, headlights, exterior mirrors, HVAC, and seating. In contrast, the A4 and ES 350 base models only have driver memory settings for locks and headlights, and only as optional upgrades.

The TLX base trim also features standard speed-sensing interval windshield wipers, which aren’t available in the ES 350 base trim, and standard satellite radio, which is only available as an optional upgrade in the A4 base model.

The TLX models further feature available GPS-linked climate control, which isn’t found in either the A4 or the ES 350. A solar sensor is employed in this system, gauging the sun’s intensity and impact on the inside temperature of the car. A GPS receiver on the available Acura Navigation System keeps track of the position of the sun in relation to the vehicle.

Safety Offerings

In terms of safety, the Acura TLX has garnered the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s highest overall rating of 5 stars. The TLX further earned 5 stars in each crash test imposed by the NHTSA, while the ES 350 only received 4 stars in the frontal crash and rollover tests. The Audi A4 has not been tested by the NHTSA.

The TLX offers a variety of advanced safety technologies to help protect its passengers, including:

  • Vehicle stability assist
  • Tire pressure monitoring system with tire fill assist
  • Available collision mitigation braking system
  • Available road departure mitigation system
  • Available lane keeping assist system
  • Available adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow
  • Available blind spot information system
  • Available forward collision warning system
  • Available parking sensors
